Second night - Arcturus
I'm fairly sure Arcturus is the first star I see in the southern sky. Wrestled with the EQ mount to get the red dot sight pointed at the bright star, looked through the eye piece and I could see 4 stars. None of them appeared any brighter than the other so I was a little confused. Did I have Arcturus or other stars I couldn't see with the naked eye?
Kept exploring and trying to target stars, they all looked the same. Had a look where the milky way should be, maybe a few more stars but not much of huge interest.
Good practice moving the EQ mount around, feels like wrestling an eel sometimes. Overall a better night, still struggle with the eye piece. Camera on order...
Photo from a 15 second exposure on my old Lumix compact camera, no scope.
